Shows length, attenuation coefficient, connection point, fault points and loss distribution curves of the fiber and more...Toronto, Canada - GAO Fiber Optics has rolled out its portable optical time-domain reflectometer(OTDR) that has been used widely in loss characteristics analysis and fault point location in the manufacture, installation and maintenance of fiber optic networks.
This palm-sized OTDR is compatible with CATV,ISP and telecommunications fiber networks. It shows the length, attenuation coefficient, connection point, fault points and loss distribution curves of the fiber as well as loss between two points, slice loss and return loss.
The model 2000, provides two on screen markers that can be used to zoom in and out on curve details and automatically locates fault points and then creates a list.

Standards : ISA100 Wireless Compliance Institute Delivers Wireless Test Kits
For Verifying Wireless Device Interoperability and Stack Conformance to ISA100.11a StandardBoth kits verify the correct communication behavior of a wireless device as defined in the ISA100.11a standard and provide comprehensive packages and tools for troubleshooting, debugging, and regression testing of ISA100.11a products.
“Designed to help manufacturers develop products that conform to the ISA100.11a standard, the Wireless Test Kits provide manufacturers with a complete set of components to easily verify their products before submission for certification and guarantee conformance with the ISA100.11a technical standard,” said Andre Ristaino, managing director, ISA100 Wireless Compliance Institute.
“The test kits used by the WCI accredited test labs are the same kits available to supplier organizations.”

Standards : Home demonstrates payoff for energy efficiency concepts
Significant innovations make home nearly energy independent
Snowmass CO, USA -- Recently introduced ABB HygienicMaster electromagnetic meters are playing an important role in the highly instrumented residence of Amory Lovins, cofounder of Rocky Mountain Institute.Located at an elevation of 7100 feet, the home serves to develop and demonstrate many earth-friendly architectural concepts.
The latest demonstration presses into service previously unused hydronic tubing cast into the home’s concrete floor slab in 1983.
The building will now use passive and active solar heat, coupled with oversized thermal storage and backed up if necessary by renewable electricity, to add hydronic radiant floor heating to the existing solar water heating system.

Standards : LGC Standards continues its growth in emerging markets
Championing measurement science and quality control in the Russian analytical market -- Глобальные решения в управлении качеством для лабораторийSaint-Petersburg, Russia -- LGC Standards has opened its first office in St Petersburg, Russia.
This new office, coming only six months after a presence in China was established, demonstrates that LGC Standards continues to grow to support laboratory quality worldwide.
Russia is widely recognised as a ‘pharmerging’ market, with a predicted growth rate in the pharmaceutical sector of 17% per annum to 2013 (Espicom – The Pharmaceutical Market: Russia, 2009.)
The initial focus for the Russian team will be this sector, launching the LGC Standards range of 2400 reference standards for pharmaceutical impurities to support quality control.
