PROVIDENCE RI, USA – Tapers play an important role in orthopedic devices. Most hip and knee implants use tapers because they provide good alignment and can be "locked" into position.
In manufacturing these devices, the control of taper and size determines how well the implants perform over their lifetime. Increasingly, air gaging has become the inspection tool of choice for controlling these critical parameters.

Dresden, Germany -- ZMD AG has expanded its family of capacitive sensor signal conditioning devices with the wide-dynamic-range ZMD31210 cLite ™ integrated circuit (IC).
The new design technology delivers 14-bit resolution and 0.5 percent accuracy over a wide range of capacitances and temperatures.
Capacitive sensors offer several benefits, including very low power operation, and the ZMD31210 supports this with a low 60 uA current draw over a supply voltage range as low as 1.8V or as high as 5.5V.

Lake Oswego OR, USA -- Spectrum Detector, Inc.has introduced two new models of their "delta" Joulemeter Probes. Model DPJ-25-OB which features a black absorbing coating for flat spectral response across the spectrum and model DPJ-25-DC which includes a fast, diffuse metallic coating and is capable of pulsed measurements in excess of 40,000 pps.
Both probes are directly compatible with Spectrums delta-DPM USB based Digital Power Module which includes powerful LabView Applications Software.

The MAX11040 is a 24-bit, 4-channel, simultaneous-sampling, sigma-delta analog-to-digital converter (ADC). The device allows simultaneous sampling of as many as 32 channels using a built-in cascade feature to synchronize as many as eight devices.
The serial interface of the MAX11040 allows reading data from all the cascaded devices using a single command. Four modulators simultaneously convert each fully differential analog input with a programmable data output rate ranging from 0.25ksps to 64ksps.
The device achieves 106dB SNR at 16ksps and 117dB SNR at 1ksps.
