Applications : Graded Density Filter for High Flow Production of Cryptosporidium-free Water
Unique design affords high flow capability & exceptional oocyst retention capacity
Segensworth, UK & Ashland VA, USA -- Available from Porvair Filtration Group - Cryptofil™ filter cartridges are proven to provide absolute control of Cryptosporidium oocysts in water used in the food, beverage and ultrapure water industries. The Cryptofil™ cartridge was developed by Porvair after extensive research and has resulted in filter media with continuously graded fibre density which enables progressively finer oocyst retention through the depth of the media.
This graded density depth filtration mechanism, combined with optimized pleated pack configuration and resultant high surface area, affords high flow capability and exceptional oocyst retention capacity.
Cryptosporidium oocysts removed from the water flow are captured within the media and are not subject to release by system fluctuations.

Latest MAXQ® microcontroller integrates a differential amplifier to eliminate the need for external amplifiers on each sensor input channel
SUNNYVALE CA, USA — Maxim Integrated Products extends its line of MAXQ mixed-signal microcontrollers with the MAXQ7670A, a complete system-on-chip (SoC), mixed-signal microcontroller that integrates all the functions needed to accurately measure small-amplitude differential analog input signals. The MAXQ7670A pushes mixed-signal performance of the previously introduced MAXQ7670 to the 12-bit level, enabling measurements in the microvolt range from various types of sensors, such as anisotropic magnetoresistive (AMR) sensors. AMR sensors are typically used for contactless sensing of linear or angular displacement in automotive or industrial applications.
The MAXQ7670A requires only 5 mm x 5 mm of board space, and offers on-chip programmable gain control on each input channel. This avoids the need for external amplification of low-amplitude signals, resulting in cost reduction and PCB area savings of up to 40%.

New Products : NEW: Ultra Miniature SMD Rotary Sensor
Piher's MTS360 is a true breakthrough in contactless sensor technology
Tudela, Spain & Libertyville IL, USA -- With its tiny size of only 6 mm x 17 mm x 18 mm (HxWxL), engineers can now integrate a fully featured rotary sensor directly on their PCB without the packaging issues that typically accompany encoders or other absolute position devices. The exceptionally low profile fits easily in places that were previously too small for pre-packaged rotary sensors. By combining a through-shaft design with 360º absolute position feedback in an ultra miniature size.
The result is the smallest fully featured rotary sensor on the market with reliability up to 25 million cycles.
The MTS 360 relies on patented Hall effect technology to enable for the first time true non-contacting through-hole shaft sensing using standard SMD features.

Vendor : Hexavalent Chromium is a Concern for Illinois Companies
EC2 provide hexavalent chromium (Cr(VI)) testing services to help protect workers and the public
Woodstock IL, USA -- /PRLog (Press Release)/ – Last year the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) monitored the air at Saint Josaphat School in Chicago, Illinois.
According to the EPA website, “EPA selected this school for monitoring because it is located near a steel production facility and a leather manufacturer that are sources of air toxics emissions. Computer models were used to determine which air toxics may be present at elevated levels in the outdoor air near the school. These models showed that hexavalent chromium, lead, and manganese could be present in the air around the school and prompted EPA to test to see if the levels present may be of concern.”
Hexavalent chromium is known to be a human carcinogen via inhalation exposure. The compounds are a group of chemical substances that contain the metallic element chromium in its positive-6 valence (hexavalent) state.
Occupational exposures to Cr(VI) occur during the production of stainless steel, chromate chemicals, and chromate pigments. Cr(VI) exposures also occur during other work activities such as stainless steel welding, thermal cutting, chrome plating, painting and coating processes.
