Foxboro Oil & Gas Measurement Solutions
Foxboro Measurements and Instruments web pages list a number of Oil, Gas and other industrial specialtiy applications stories available for download in pdf format. One must supply an email address and then register with name and other contact information in order to gain access to them, however. While this is something of a nusiance, it is something probably worthwhile for serious information seekers. While this is not quite in the open spirit of most of the Web obviously Foxboro thinks otherwise. Many other industrial companies act similarly, for ill-defined reasons.
We believe that an email address and a user name is more than adequate for reducing spammer inputs. But for downloads? Even an email address requirement to access openly available literature is a poorly concealed defense against competitive spying.
Heavens, the true competitors already have your info, guys; if not they'll get it anyway they can. The oft heard excuse of some marketing and sales staffs, that this is a way to collect leads, is even less defensible.
True seekers welcome open access.
As a general rule, we do not provide links to such web pages, but there's enough there and Foxboro is an old and recognised organization, that we'll make an exception and spell out our policy for them and our users. We'll add this to our FAQs pages, too!

FREE Electrical Measurement Safety Education Video
Fluke Corporation offers an updated version of its Electrical Measurement Safety interactive video aimed at reducing hazards for people measuring electrical circuits, and helping reduce risk and liability for employers. The Electrical Measurement Safety video has been revised to incorporate the most recent guidelines from the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 70E standard for electrical safety in the workplace, which specifically addresses arc flash hazards. Materials also incorporate safety information from American National Standards Institute (ANSI), International Electrotechnical Conference (IEC) and other safety regulators.
Available free of charge on CD (one copy per user) through the Fluke website (www.fluke.com/safety), the Fluke Electrical Measurement Safety video includes:
* Safety Video -- This 25-minute video dramatizes the hazards of electrical measurement and explains the precautions that help defend against the arc flash. Includes the experience of an electrician almost killed by arc flash.* Test Tool Post-Test – This quick test helps electrical professionals determine whether the test tools they are using meet today’s safety standards.
* Interview with an Arc Blast Survivor – This electrician was lucky. He survived an arc blast and he’s back on the job, though his recovery required months of painful skin grafts. Hear what happened, and what he learned.
* Does Your Meter Measure Up? – The only way to know for sure is by conducting a safety audit of your test tools and equipment. Here’s how.
* Safety Application Notes – Each of these brief notes is designed to serve as the basis of a safety meeting discussion or as a chapter in the electrical safety reference library. They cover such topics as “10 Dumb Things Smart People Do When Testing Electricity,” “ABCs of Electrical Measurement Safety,” “Differences in Voltage Testers Can Be Shocking,” “Are Your Test Tools Safety-Ready?” and “Don’t Risk CAT IV Areas Without the Right Leads.”

Using Pressure Sensor and Flowmeter
Using a transducer and a flowmeter to determine slurry flow rate and POU filter life, By Michael S. Wang, published at the Micromagazine.com website. The Abstract reads: Because slurry can clog up a filter quickly, a system combining a prefilter pressure transducer and a flowmeter has been devised that can determine filter life and avoid process interruptions. This article focuses on slurry polishing of semiconductor wafers.Added on: 23-Mar-2005 | hits: 2057
